Gamma Phi Actives Host the 2000 Man of the Year – Raymond Lane, and Dr. Steve Ostendorf at the Kappa Alpha House in 2008
As of the 2010-2011 school year we no longer occupy the Kappa Alpha house. Our real house resides on 200 Belmar Ave. No matter where Kappa Sigma’s live in the intern, the tradition and memories of 200 Belmar will never be lost. Efforts to renovate and bring the glory of the Kappa Sigma house at West Virginia University are well under way. We are currently undergoing a Capital Campaign to try and raise money to start construction on our new house.
The plans for the new house call for about 37 bedrooms. In addition, two large rooms will be added onto the back of the house, as well as a fifth floor. These changes have been made in order to maximize functional space for meetings, parties, formals, and dinners, as well as being competative with other houses and sleeping over 30 men in single rooms. If completed, this house WILL be the best Fraternity house at West Virginia University. This will ensure that Kappa Sigma will always remain number one on campus in recruiting, membership, and character. We currently have over 120 active members. With a new house, we will be able to maintain these numbers and grow significantly.
So far, over $150,000 dollars have been pledged by our outstanding alumni. In order to close a loan and initiate construction on the project this winter, we must raise an additional $250,000 for a down payment. The Active chapter has saved the housing corp over $50,000 by gutting the house in order to save on demolition costs. In addition to this, they have pledged to donate $5,000 next semester. Now, it is up the the alumni to do their part, and support the chapter financially in order to make this project come to fruition.
